love never gives up

I splurged on a large canvas (90cm x 53cm) and finally tackled it this week. Thanks family for letting me take over the kitchen table for two days.

“LOVE never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful & endures all things.” Adore these words, so powerful. Huge stencil hey? Made it a challenge to work with but am happy the way it turned out.

Lots of lovely vintage goodies on this canvas: dictionary pages, sheet music, pages from a hymn book, pages from Gone With the Wind, Wind in the Willows, Shakespeare, a prayer book, plus Japanese and German book pages.

Love it? You can buy it here.

wild at heart

Don’t let art become complicated.  Sometimes I just wash ink all over my art journal pages as a background, grab a basic stencil, cut out a picture from a magazine that expresses what I want to say and find some words to paste on.

fearfully and wonderfully made

I had one Christmas custom artwork order that i found hard to part with: “I am beautiful for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” I’m sharing it as a post now because it’s a timeless message in a society determined to  make us believe lies instead of truth.

To the young lady on the receiving end of this canvas, I pray that the words, colours and shapes held in this canvas strengthen and give peace to your soul as it has mine, as it was created.

These sweet words are inspired from Psalm 139:14

i love wood

2017 is a year of page turning, saying hello new and saying good bye and well done to things previously started that are now finished.

One of my hello new, is embracing my love for wood.  In 2016 I’ve been learning to master the scrollsaw and making jewellery and Christmas decorations.  In 2017 it’s leaning to turn wood.  Yep, I’ll be taking a rough log and making it into delightful, smooth, shiny timber products such as pens, bowls, beads, candleholders and jewellery.

So excited to have had two official lessons at my local woodworking society and racked up 2 hours practise on hubbys (and my) lathe.  My brain is expanding with all the new neuronal pathways and I’m loving it, sawdust and all.  What amazing therapy. What an beautiful way to create.

Above is some of my Hubby’s creative timber work, he now works full time at our woodworking business called Lathe & Chisel, turning pens and jewellery.

Yay to new adventures, blank canvases and freshly cut logs of wood.  Follow our creative adventures on Facebook and Instagram.

weeping sky

Sometimes the sky weeps. Sometimes there are good reasons and sometimes we feel like having a good cry for no particular reason. This art journal page in my mini art journal celebrates those tears. Yet the tears water the flowers  and they flourish and grow. If you’re having a hard time lately these page are for you!  With love. Sometimes weeping is the bravest thing you can do.
