birdy cards

My gelli plate has been suffering from underuse so I got it out and had a big play.  I loved the background I made so much that I made them into cards. Six awesome families are receiving some colourful birdy snail-mail from me this week.

Two colours on the gelli plate for the first layer, dry between layers, then 2 more colours overlapping.

Then I stencilled flower blooms in light and dark pink, arty words in aubergine purple, and the birdies in black.

I guillotined the 12×12 background into 6 pieces to fit on my A6 cardstock, before I stuck them down I sewed the edges to add some interest and texture. To a couple of them I added some brown twine and hot glued a button.

If you haven’t got a gelli plate, it’s a fun investment, I recommend it highly for card making and tag making.
