macrame at the craft nest

I made a macrame owl when I was a young teenager.  I remember it vividly, it was pink with big brown eyes and I had it for many years.  At one point before I left home, little pink owl went into the bin or an op shop, can’t remember. It was exactly like the one below.

Owl Macrame Cat Preston Its My Cake

Sorry pink owl, you would’ve been a trendy, vintage treasure these days. The version pictured above is from itsmycake.

Today was a trip down memory lane: macrame class with Rebecca from The Craft Nest. I arrived a little late so missed the introductions but managed to finish knotting my little macrame bottle holder among lovely crafty people.  So much diversity in creativity in the beautiful heritage listed Queenslander.

Rebecca’s excellent tuition betrayed her craft teaching experience and the understanding of her craft.  Lovely afternoon out for me, thanks Rebecca, I came away encouraged and inspired.

It is a volunteer run not-for-profit and over the coming months they will be calling out for support in the form of donations (financial, materials, equipment, furniture), volunteers and help with getting the word out so that we can make The Nest a sustainable home for everyone.
