yellow rose of remembering

Meet Delrose our rosebush, she is wearing a most splendiferous silk chiffon gown.

3 years ago today a friend of mine lost her battle with breast cancer.  She fought long, she fought hard, she fought it with every ounce of strength she had.  We held a personal memorial service to remember Del, in our garden.  Brad chose a fragrant, saffron yellow rose-bush and we all planted it together.  We all wrote a note to say goodbye to Del and buried our letters deep down among the roots of the rosebush and watered it with our tears.

Dear Del, we remember you whenever Delrose blooms.  We remember walks amid daffodils and bringing a handful of snow back from Mushroom Rock for you to make into snowballs.  We remember singing on Friday nights and hearing your dad read from the Word.  We said goodbye but it is not forever.

That is such a beautiful way to remember a dear friend to you and your family. I’m so sorry that she lost her battle with cancer it is just such a horrible disease. The Delrose is such a happy soul I bet your friend is smiling down on you too.
