we shall forget not

Anzac Day had my 3 kids dressed in full Pathfinder uniform (like Scouts/Guides) and march up Kingston Road enmass.  The group looked magnificent: shoes tapping to the beat of the drums… i loved watching the kids silently mouth left, right, left, right… to keep in time.

It was Shay’s first time marching and she was nervous but Brad (who used to be a cadet drill sarget in his teens) tutored her in the loungeroom the night before.  They all did a brilliant job, so proud.

We encouraged our 3 to take the day seriously and remember why they were marching.

My eyes choked up when people stepped forward to lay the wreaths and when the Bugler’s Last Post notes cut the air.

We shall forget not.
