29 cents

Remember when a small book cost 29c?  No, me neither but my mum probably does, it wasn’t that long ago.

Some of my collection of Little Golden Books are price marked 29c!!!  (and what shop is BBC?) Lately my collection of Little Golden Books has been growing.  I note with great interest the different drawings in the two of my books as they are republished: for example 101 Dalmatians check out the differences in the lady on the final page.

Compare this older illustration above with the one below. Note her posture/body language changes, her homely look, her pink flushed cheeks?

Two quite different covers too.

Here are my favourite vintage Golden Book finds, 100% op shopped:

This is my collection spread out while i was sorting them!

My dad has my sister’s and my little golden books packed away for when we have kids. I’m sure I remember we had almost a whole bookshelf full so I’m looking forward to unpacking and rereading them again some day.

29c for a book is just a bit decadent isn’t it!!

Roc, I think I need to come to your place just so I can read your vintage golden books!!! 🙂 I have a few that I have found at the op shop myself… but I confess a large part of my stash of them are ones that I was given as a small child… yep printed in the ’70’s! LOL I love them!!!
